So I've been doing some tinkering around in the new garage this winter hoping to have the quad all set up for Erie ice. Looks like I'll be waiting until next year to try out the new modifications. Unless I make a Wisconsin run this weekend. Made a new power auger holder and a sled tow bar. Think they'll work out just fine.

Mock up mount on the quad.

Finish paint and styrofoam pad installed.

Sled tow bar.

At least you took into consideration a bracket to support the head. Most of the ones on the market don't support the weight of the motor at least the ones I have seen. I made it simple and bought the Clam auger mount which mounts nice and supports the head of my 8" Strikemaster Lazer Mag. I have the same ATV also ...

Yep, read that Jiffy recommended the auger head be supported so I figured I had better incorporate that into my design. And this quad has been a real good machine for me. No complaints as of yet. Heading up to Wisconsin this weekend to try and get on some fish...hopefully it's a successful trip. If not, I know I'll still have a blast!

I myself was planning a trip for a few days up to Wisco this week but things changed here at home so walking on the local ice is my only option. With the weather this weekend I'm thinking any safe local ice is history so getting the boat back out will be on my list.

Where did you fish up in Wisco and how did you end up? These Kawasaki ATV'S are great but kinda finicky to start in cold weather and always make sure you treat your fuel or if possible run a non-oxygenated fuel.

Ended up staying in Oshkosh and fished Lake Poygan. Didn't do so well Saturday and spent a bunch of time bouncing around trying to find fish. Had quite a few marks but ended up only putting a few small white bass on the ice all day Saturday. Couple other guys I know stayed up there until Monday and ended up doing alright for whitey's out on Winnebago Sunday afternoon. I know they're supposed to get some rain up there this week and still have a week left of spearing up there and then Battle on Bago the following weekend.

Yea, this is a different year for sure. But, with open water we can get on those walleye a little sooner this year. :)
