Just read in the local paper that the young male bear that had been making his presence known around the Michigan City area has been killed.

Apparently, he showed up again in SW Michigan and tried to enter someone's house. The Michigan DNR set up the same trap which he escaped from last year. This time they caught him, tranquilized him, and put him down.

It's sad that he became his own worst enemy with his brushes with human civilization. Pretty cool, though, that he found his way to this area.

Your thoughts???

BTW, I know one sure fire way to keep a bear out of your yard......Put up an end zone! (LOL)

Hmmm I have to wonder, why not just relocate him?

And/or put a tracking device on him.

The State of Michigan has a protocol for rogue bears. If they get to familiar with people the mo is to put them down. Apparently this fella was trying to get into homes and comfortable eatimg garbage while
People watch. Because of that the MI bear authorities decided to put him down. Now how do they know this is the same bear that was hanging around MC?
