I took my mini-charter customers (1 1/2 hour trip) out at noon today and set up in 45 feet and trolled over by the #4 marker.

Just curious to see if there was any cool water under the boat, I put my probe down and was amazed! I had 60 degrees at 25 feet (74 on surface) and 56 near the bottom. That's plenty cool for steelhead and if the evil north winds don't blow, expect the water to cool even more. This is the time of year that feeder kings and cohos will follow the cold water in and we can have some decent nearshore action.

Nothing for me in the 40 minutes or so I had to actually fish and I only ran four downrigged lines. No guarantees but with the forecast of stable and S to SW winds all week, I'm thinking by the weekend some fun times might develop.

Dangit all to hell that I am in Tennessee.....bah. Gonna try flyfishing for some rainbows at least. Anxious to hear if the action close in heats up.

Yeah, normally I'd be fired up about that, but it doesn't do much good if there's no kings around. I'm staying home again. There has to be a economic impact sooner or later...I'd think sooner. I was at ludington last weekend and the fishing was awful. A Saturday morning in late July and there was 14 trailers in the lot...normally would be at least two thirds full.
