Went for a week to lake Norfork. I originally tried to book a couple of charters to help find some Walleye and/or Stripers but both charters said they would be glad to take me out but this was a tough time of the year for fishing. Crappie should still be ok but the other species are very hard, so we opted to do a charter in the spring when we go back. Weather was all over the place with sunny and 72 to rainy and high 40s. First day we went and tried a couple of our spring Crappie spots and didnt find anything (although it was the day we arrived so not much fishing time. next day we moved around some and got one nice Crappie and a big Gill. One other boat at the dock had killed the crappie and gave us some tips to try. the next day we spent some time doing some searching around and found a really nice spot. found a few other spots also that produced some fish but the one spot was hot most of the remainder of the week. We almost limited out one day and the other days we did pretty good. A report from a local on thursday said that with the weather chance the crappie bite died but good fisherman can still find them - I consider it dumb luck and not a good fisherman but we ended the week with 55 Keeper crappie (min is 10" on norfork but I threw back anything under 11") all fish were 11 to 15" with vast majority in the 12-14" range. My wife got the most fish on most of the days and ended up with the 15" big fish for the week. Spent some cold wet days on the water but was a good fall trip and have the freezer full of fish again :).
A picture of me getting ready to trailer the boat yesterday with the major fog on the lake.
