Did a quick, weekender to Huron, OH Nov 2&3. The fishing was good! Day one we fished way north of Huron starting about 12 miles out and trolling south. Took a bit to figure the pattern. Our best program turned out to be Dipsey Divers and the best lures were Seaquest spoons, purple with copper ladder and 1/2 purpole 1/2 UV using braid divers set to run in the mid-30s in depth over 45 Feet of Water. A few fish on Bandits and similar lures on boards but we had to run them way back or add weights to get them 25 to 30 down.
Second day was better - strong east wind so we started almost to Vermillion and trolled back towards Huron with the waves. Only 40 feet of water under the boat so we adjusted the dipseys up a bit and they still were the studs - same spoons. A bit more action with Berkley Hit Sticks and Rapala Gold Miners - both Bandit like deep divers in silver blue or fire tiger, running them 150 behind the boards.
Good grade of fish. 19 to 25 inchers.
Next weekend looks good so head east if you want to get in on the brawl. Huron ramp was a madhouse on Saturday. So get there early. We launched at Holiday Harbor to avoid the crowd.
