Well, we made it happen!  Bad start, but finished strong.

Plan A,  fish Monroe, MI. Found out there was a national walleye tournament.

Plan B... went to Huron launch. Got there, two boats. River was trashed, chocolate milk, full of debris. Carefully made it out to the lake for an hour in the afternoon, but fought the wind and debris field and tangled lines. Packed it up quickly.

Plan C... went to Port Clinton, and checked out Mazuriks. Talked to some guys and a CO. Said the bite was on, east of Kellys, but a different tournament was starting. Fished Friday morning for short time until the wind and waves got nasty fast. Trolled back in but thru muck water, no fish. Rains came and we did some napping, then drove around for sight seeing.

Saturday morning got out early before the crowd, motored to SE corner of Kelly's and started dropping our spread. Before half was in, got a bite, then another. Finally set up and here comes the crowd! Literally hundreds of boats throughout the morning. We picked away with 6 fish, and the predicted 1 footers turned into 3 footers. Went to SW of Kelly's for the wind break, and trolled thru the jiggers. We picked up 3 more eventually, and decided we accomplished what we hoped for. Good trip considering first time in our own ride. We will be back!

One Bandit took 6 of the fish. Wish we had another to put out. Lol. Captains were sharing info on the radio with lead lengths, speeds, directions, etc. We picked up on all that and it sure helped.

Mazuriks holds 215 spots for boats. In addition, they were parked in the grass, on the lanes in the turns, along the road, etc. We got there about 5:20am and were about 5th in line. By the time we got our boat staged, the line was down the road as far as you could see. Total mess. So, word to the wise, check the schedules beforehand to avoid the chaos! On the up side, everyone was very friendly and on the same page. Pretty good time overall.
