I saw this picture and it brought back so many memories. My son Jim shot his first buck almost exactly like this picture dictates. He was 10 years old. Same size rack and it was a close incounter just like this pic. Same gun looks like a Remington 1100. Buck stopped right up close and looked up at him. First shot was the one that did him in but the gun was quickly unloaded at the buck as he ran off. Still remember the look on his face as we followed up and found him 35yards away. First shot was perfect centering on the base of the neck, looking straight at him. This year he will be taking care of the old man as we get another season in together.

Great story Ed. I had a day like that with my son.  I remember it well. Thanks for the recall of times past. It's a great thing to remember good times hunting and fishing with your kids & grand kids.

Pictures of my son Jim with his first buck at age 10. This buck fell dead in a deep farm ditch, was tuff getting him out.

The other is Jims biggest with a bow. That one nearly broke our deer cart getting him out.
