TOPIC:

Took a couple days and went North for another round of Smelt and Trout fishing. Well trout fishing was a bust this weekend for me. Had a few flags, watched several fish come up after jigs and smelt but no solid hookups. Seems they were just slapping at them and not committing fully. There were a few trout caught that a saw but few and far between for the weekend. Smelt bite had picked up for me over the weekend as I tested a new light, some around me were still struggling. iced somewhere between 120-140, between bait and leaving some with Mom I brought home around 100 so I have a couple good meals coming starting tomorrow night.

Enjoying the new EVO 2it i picked up this season. I know some don't know what I am talking about with fishing smelt and not dipping them, but it can be very frustrating but enjoyable at the same time. Dont have any pics of the setupp inside the shanty but here are a couple poor phone pics I tried to get of how the light looks. I will have to take the better camera with me next time.

Very tasty indeed and cooking some tomorrow for dinner, best when fresh with some potatoes O'BRIEN. Also caught 2 Burbot which are very tasty too. Left those with Mom which she enjoyed tonight.

Built a couple lights for crappie fishing also. Looks like I may be able to try them pretty soon with this weather. I have 1 more smelt trip planned for this ice season hoping the ice up there holds up which it should, then focus on some spring fishing.
