New guy here!

Does anyone have advice on a fish finder? Currently I’m looking at the Lowrance hook reveal 7 TS.

I am looking in the $600 range

is not having preloaded maps a deal breaker for anyone?

In that range I would go with a Garmin.

I have the hook reveal 9 W triple shot transducer. Works great! This is my 3rd season.

Bass Pro has the Lowrance HDS Carbon 9 for @800 bucks. More than you want to spend but a good deal.

Had a Lowrance HDS 7 on the old boat, and now a Humminbird Helix 9 on the new. I know there's almost a 10 year difference between the two, but I REALLY like this new Humminbird over the Lowrance. The helix 7 would be available in your target price range, and they are very intuitive with a great image quality.

Earlier this year I picked up a Garmin echomap 93 sv for $699 at Cabelas. I've only used it once so far but I'm really liking the easy of operation. It's also ready to up grade to live scope if you like. I have to say the normal price is $1,149 I believe. It was on sale. But due your search & look around. You'll find what works for you at the best price.

Thanks for the advise everyone!

I did like the garmin but I couldn’t decide between the SV or CV models and the Lowrance similar model with the triple shot transducer claims to have both.

I think I’m gonna go with the Lowrance. The reviews look great and watched a bunch of videos on it. If it doesn’t work out I can return it and go with the garmin.

thanks again!

For this fishing, the Lowrance or Garmin will both work great.  Go with your gut.

If you can get that Carbon 9 for 800 that would be the way to go.  Especially if it has the 3in1 transducer.  By far the best graph talked about in this post.
