There’s been some fish around. I had a couple nice days last week. 1oz pyramid sinker on a slip rig with 24” 6lb flouro leader and #14 treble with a small piece a uncured skein has been the ticket. Cooked and cured eggs have not been catching anything. I haven’t tried waxies or crawlers. If you go, take the time and spend a couple dollars to be rigged right, egg sinkers rolling around in the current tangle your gear in itself and your neighbor’s. I highly reccomend finding the tiny trebles to use, if you have to use single hooks go with #10’s. There’s plenty of lakers and a few steelhead in the mix, so I’d reccomend paying close attention to your leaders and mainline.

Nice bunch of fish John. Looks like fun. Can those be caught all fall and into early winter?

Wow John,,,,,,,,,, I might have to give up on deer and make one of those trips with you. Would be nice to have some fresh white fish.

Thanks for the pics!

Ed, I’m open to bartering. Been a long time since I had any venison. I’ve got some smoked and some fresh still. Going to be vacuum sealing and freezing them after work tonight.

Not sure how long they stick around Don. We catch a few in the early spring. I’m still trying to figure them out. They seem to coincide with perch and fall steelhead which are two of my favorite fish to chase so it’s a bit of decision to make. The whites seem to be eating laker eggs and they are spawning now. Not sure if the hang around all winter or if they drop back out and show up again in spring. I stopped at the pier last night after checking the creeks. Nobody was catching anything.

Southshore,
Nice bunch of fish!
did you catch those in Indiana or Michigan?
Do you know of any being caught in Hammond or East Chicago?
Thanks

Those were caught in Indiana. I’ve heard of a few caught from East Chicago in the past. I personally have caught a few from Gary light, but I haven’t heard anything recently. If I were going to fish the west side, I’d probably target perch and either be in a boat or hit the slips or river in IL.
