Launched at 95th street and headed up the river past the first turnaround. Didn’t find stacked up pods of fish but finally found a pattern with minimal marks on the graph. 15 decent ones in the LiveWell and 20 shorts thrown back. Drifting or casting and a slow dragging retrieve got the best results. No spot lock today. 29’ on an outside break did the most damage. Multiple Barges came ripping through and that was it for us. Get out and wet some lines!
Fish on!

Off the topic but I noticed in the photo that all the perch looked as though they'd had their throats cut. I assume you did this to bleed them before additional cleaning. Is that right? I write the "Tips" column for Great Lakes Angler magazine and this looks like something perch-jerkers might find interesting. Respond here about why and how you do it, or send me an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. Same thing goes for others. Send me a tip and I'll put it in the magazine.
