Unbelievable, not to mention discouraging. Where do they hide?

Did mc by the condos on Monday.   Caught 4nice keepers and as many dinks.  Decided to try st joe today for the 1st time. Pulled up next to a boat out by the white bouy nw of Port.  They kept pulling em in- me? 2.  Boats scattered around didn't seem to be doing much better than me.  Trolling motor kept popping circuit breaker, handle broke on my reel!  Starting to wonder if I should try letting my hair grow out and be a beach bum. Hmm, not much left to grow out in that regard either.  Pickelball? Nah, tried that.  Fishing shows on tv?

Appreciate all the reports. Hard to believe it's almost August and no action anywhere yet. What an odd season.

I'm not too mad to see them get a break for most of the summer after the absolute lashing they took this past winter.  That being said it'd be nice if they were in now that the silver catch is starting to fizzle out.  South winds wanted.

I'd wager out deep. We survey them out to about 110-120 feet, although in the spring they are concentrated in 50-80 feet.

But also they will just be scattered right now when there is no thermocline. When the water is in the 60s and 70s down to 60-70 feet, that's just a heck of a lot of homogenous temperature and nothing to concentrate them. With some water in the 50s creeping in at 50-60 feet, that's where you'll start to see some fish get picked up reliably. I'm guessing after this week of weather the bite should pick up , although the north blow forecast for this weekend could kill it before it gets going

Results of a full day of fishing on Wednesday the 26th out of MC. Fished mainly west of the harbor before the storm, came back out and fished east after the storm. Fish are just scattered. Dropped a sabiki rig into a few schools and pulled up mostly smaller ales, a few dink perch, and even some sort of salmonid fingerling. Caught fish in 20ft and out to 50. 35-45 seemed to have most to show on the sonar.
