Solid limit of 9-11"ers will eat just fine. Didn't even have to uncover the boat. Probably could have skipped the baits shop too. 3/8oz blade bait in gold, silver, or orange all produced as many or more fish than minnows

SS were you casting or jigging those blade baits? Never heard of anyone catching Perch on those.

I cast them, let it sink all the way to the bottom, then rip, pop, and hop them back to the boat/shore. The key is getting feel for the bait hitting bottom during the drops on the retrieve. 90% of the hits come while it's dropping, and its just a tick or the line stops dropping. I always fish them on light braid with a fast action rod. In shallow water I've gone down to 1/4oz, and out in the deep water off Gary and Portage I'll go all the way to 5/8 and 3/4.oz. For whatever reason, they only seem to work in colder water, November-April, never had them work in the summer. They catch all sizes of perch, in the slip the last few days, I caught a couple of perch that might now have even been 3", but my best day ever out off Gary I had 4 fish over 15" that all hit 3/4oz blades. The only time I can't get them to work is in real dirty water.

The way the winds are I guess Saturday I'll be combat fishing near the slip and then theres a good chance to head out deep on Sunday. God I hate fishing weekends but theres not much time left to be picky. I wonder if those fish at the slip will still hit a spinner casted with shrimp. I really prefer to pound those fish deep those big sumbitches sure are a fight on an 8' Crappie rod.
