Seems like there should be a good amount of steelies in front of the ditch by now. Judging by the pics from previous years it always seemed to be the middle of June was my best couple weeks. Thus far I have only lost one and not heard of many being caught yet.

Folks have been catching steelhead since late May at the pierhead and the streams even. Plenty of fish caught from shore at Portage Lakefront Park, and even more at Washington Park (couple weeks ago especially). Lot of people would tell you it has been an earlier run compared to the last few years.

Typically for me, by the 4th of July was always prime-time for steelies, give or take a week. That's just my take, judging by the notes in my log book. As hot as it's been this summer already too, it should be prime right now.

St Joe and Mc were really hot for steelies 2 to 4 weeks ago....seems to be slowing down on them.
