Probably more than a rumor, but ugly, none the less. I heard East Chicago I planning to "rebuild" their marina - specifically the docks, closing the dry stack building for good AND WON'T BE OPEN FOR BOAT LAUNCHING, until mid-May. That's if all goes according to schedule. Government projects like this in places like East Chicago never finish early or even on time. Maybe by mid-July.

Sadly, for most people coming from the South or East, Hammond, Whihala and Cal Park are lousy substitutes.

What have you heard?

I heard the same thing about 6 weeks ago. Sounds like they will have less slips and some will lose theirs....but thats just what I heard. I have nothing other than hearsay to back it up.
Boatless!

There was a write up in the times about a month ago about the marina being renovated and slips eliminated. But, I didn't see anything about the launch. Hopefully it's the same company that's doing the new Cline Ave bridge. They've started and delayed that project about a half dozen time now.

I heard the same rumor. The rumor gets worse I heard that the launch will be closed during this time.

Back when I worked for the government one of my often used phrases was: "Well, it would make sense to..... Oh wait, don't forget, this is the government we are talking about. Making sense has no place in the thought process for this."

If it were me or you running the show, we'd do all we can to not inconvenience as many people as possible. Like doing the project in phases or marking a channel from the boat ramps to the lake. But that would be sensible. Far easier to just say, "CLOSED".

Really? They are talking about rebuilding the Cline Avenue extension? That would be great! Even if they only went to Ripley Road.

They have closed the marina service facility to make city offices out of it

3 high paid directors now run the marina operation one was enough for years city is in legal trouble over their housing project build on polluted land
