Me too. I plan on fishing next Friday and then in the classic. A lot more fun in a tournament when plenty of fish are biting.

22 or 23 boats fished Pro side of Pro/Am, Giv'n the Bird (Tom Early) won with five lake trout totaling 65 pounds, including big fish, a laker in the 15-pound class. Most of the fleet fished the reef in 60' north of New Buffalo and caught limits of lakers within hours, then went searching for kings.
We weighed five Chinook totaling 60.1, the biggest of which was 12.5. Found a patch of Chinook, baitfish marks and subsequently alewives in stomachs of Chinook near State Park Pavilion in 30 to 40' on Thurs. afternoon. Caught kings from Pavilion to two miles east today.
For today at least, magnum spoons outperformed Super Slims and Stingers on the kings (although lakers in the area did not show a preference). Green Dolphin and Kevorkian patterns each took several Chinook. Best rods were 125' and 150' coppers, although the first two king bites were 30' on 'rigger and slider on same 30' rigger.
Also had lots of alewives inside Michigan City harbor today, although boats trolling in front of MC did not report any kings. As always, that is likely to change within the week now that the baitfish are starting to show.
