Went out this morning and as usual didnt get a really early start. We got on the water about 6:30ish from Hammond Marina. We did some searching around and ended up North and West of the Gong and dropped lines in 50 FOW. We got one on relatively early and picked up a second one a little after that. Then nothing. We stayed trolling and listened to the radio and guys talking about how the bite just died and how they were doing good this morning and now nothing. Also that dodger/Fly was the only thing working and spoons were doing nothing. Guys started to head back in and we decided to try to pick up a third then we would head in. I think it was around 10:30 and the winds shifted and turned the bite on big time. There was too much craziness to try to explain here but it was me and my cousin fishing with a double going, one fish on my rigger down 35 crosses my dipsy line and about that time another pole pops. So I am fighting the one in the tangle the cousin is making sure the second one is on good then puts it back into the holder and helps me. We land the tangled fish and then we land the second one and as I am trying to get the tangled fly out I think the dipsy that is still inthe water is pulling it so I tell my cousin to grab the line so I dont end up with a fly through my finger. He grabs the line I get the fly loose and he is like that is a fish on the line. So we scramble to get the fly untangled then land the fish that was on the dipsy so technically we had a triple going and didnt even know it. That we had a few other fish cross lines and we somehow ended up landing them all. the bite was the hottest I have ever had it yet and it was just nuts with two guys trying to land the fish and the waves throwing the boat around. In the end we went 9 for 10 (11 if you count a quick drive by), broke the hinges off my cooler and one pole was stepped on and broken. flies and dodgers were good but we got over 1/2 the fish on a medium mixed veggie spoon behind a mountain dew spin doctor on the wire dipsy. There was so much craziness you wouldnt believe it if I did take the time to tell the tales. It was the best I have done yet and even though it was crazy with crossed lines and just some madness; it was a great morning. We both had obligations this afternoon so we finally had to give up on getting our last fish to finish out the limit and headed back to the Marina about 12:30. we were running 47/19.5 and everything about 35 feet.

Excellent 2 man effort on those fish. Hectic plus frantic equals fun on a day like that. They don't happen everyday.

Nice job ed. Sounds like we were fishing the same area today.
It's better to ask forgiveness than for permission.

Thanks for sharing a good story. Fishing sure beats working and when you are catching like that it's priceless.
