Sooooo...... this happened on the charter tonight! Came up on an overturned 16' boat with two people on top, no life jackets, rough, dark, 170' of water, 12 lines out, 22#king on, they flagged us down with a phone light! Got the guys in our boat, landed the fish, lost all our gear! That was one for the books!!! Strong work Chad Richardson and Chuck Davis on getting the guys out of the water and on board "Venture". I'm having a drink and going to bed!

NMFD assisted US Coast Guard and Muskegon Fire on a capsized boat in Lake Michigan tonight. Special thanks to our own FF Jeff Hedges who Captain's Trident Sportfishing (Venture Boat) for rescuing 2 souls from 3-4 ft waves in their overturned boat. Incredible rescue. Our thanks to Jeff and his crew. Job well done.

Sorry Noah, no other details. If I was them I would go straight to church first and say thankyou, then to buy a lottery ticket, The numbers for the lottery ticket would include the numbers of the charter boat that found them in the dark!!!!

This would only be a guess but I would say a 16ft boat in 3-4ft waves most likely both people on the same side of boat (not centered) and a wave hit the bow at an angle enough to toss them further off center and flipped the boat. Saw it happen to a 20ft Boston Whaler in 2-4ft seas in the 80's. 3 guys on board with 2 of them in the back corner untangling a rigger and the 3rd at the center console. Wave hit them on the front quarter and they flipped before they could react. I remember the Coast Gaurd had a heck of a time with the recovery of the boat, with the hull shaped like they are it acted as a big dive as they tried to pull it to shore.

Confusing, all over the place report, but I guess I get the gist of it...right place, at right time, and saved a few ashes!! Well done!
