For a variety of reasons I elected to fish for pre-spawn kings yesterday - August 21st. That's a little early but I've caught them in close to the mouth of the tribs that early previously. The good news is in the dawn's early light I saw several kings porpoise at the mouth of Burns Waterway. Saw several other rolls and boils which could have been gaspergoos, carp, sharks, tuna fish, let your mind wander and wonder, but there were some salmon sightings. The bad news is they were in a not biting mood - not uncommon for this time of year. It's always hit or miss. So drag out the J-Plugs - Giant J-13s - big ol' HotnTots and bright-painted spoons. The fun begins - unless you think 20 mile boat rides are fun.....
