Hi everyone,

Coming to New Buffalo for a week on vacation. Any recent updates on silver fish reports? I know they were out deep about 10 days ago. Based on the weather bouy and recent winds it looks like warm water inshore is here to stay. I'm thinking about taking a 330 heading out of the harbor and going deep. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thank you.

In general you want to hit about 240ft your other option is staging Kings they will be within a mile or 2 of the Galien river if there staging there yet. My guess is if there starting to stage at the Cal they probably started to stage at the Galien.. See the Bnature post regarding Kings.

I haven't been out in a couple weeks but we did ok north in 115-130 fow early then pushed out and had action in 205 to 230 after the morning bite. Like you say that warm water is stacked up deep along shore. There has been bait up north off the dunes most of the summer but we didn't mark much last time out.

Fished north off the dunes today. Marked a lot of fish and some decent bait stacks still up there. Couldn't get any silvers in the boat. Was slow for us ended 6 for 10, all lakers. Best water was 120 to 150fow. 70 to 90 down is where all our hits came. Had one real good whack on a wire diver (F/F) that straightened the hook out. 3rd bent treble in the last 2 trips. Bait and fish are there for sure but couldn't get them to go, hope the evening bite is better.

Was in the same area today and got one 8 lb Laker - that was it. What speeds were you running today?

Big EDV, 2.8 to 3.2 SOG worked best for us. But we tried everything from 2.2 to 3.5.

OK - about the same as us. Ran from 30' down to 100' and everywhere in that speed range. Rough day and I only saw one other guy land a fish and it appeared to be a Laker also.

We went out tonight. 6 rod spread. Finished 0/2. Took a 330 heading out of the harbor. Set-up in 80 FOW and worked out to 105. Marked a lot of fish in the 80 FOW area and then again in 100 FOW. Both hits came of wire divers with spin dr and fly combo. Both on zero setting, first was 110 ft back and second was 130 ft back. The second hit was big on a purple 3" fly but after a short fight must have ran across another line because it cut the leader about half way through. I'll be out again at some point this week.
