Took a ride this morning to portage marina and then to the lake front. There is no ice anywhere to be seen. No shore ice or shelf ice,no floating ice out in the lake. Ran into a fella that had just put his boat on the trailer that had a nice brown. Sounded as he had spent most of his time out on the reef trying to jig up a laker with no luck there. The brown was caught in the usual spot for this time of year. Close to the most northern discharge from the mill area.

Thanks for the report, I drove by the other day and didn't see any ice floating with the North wind. I guess there were a few trailers at the marina this morning...

Is it odd for the lack of success on lakers out by the reef? Seems like last winter it was about as easy as catching late March cohos. Never done it, just curious.

I can tell you I tried several times to catch lakers casting in a different place in the fall with very little success. It was fantastic last year. Not sure what happened.
