We got out for a few hours Friday to prefish and get 2019's maiden voyage in the books. I wanted to find fish away from the normal areas as to avoid the congestion of tournament day. We fished east of the port in 15-30 FOW using a mixture of thin fins, Rapalas and bay rats. It wasn't hot, but we went 15 for 20 or so. The fish were good size overall. We got a 19 lb king, a 10.5 lb coho, 4 lb coho and several coho around 2.5 to 3 lbs. We felt pretty darn good about what we were going to do on Saturday for the tournament.

It didn't pan out. Saturday we went 0 for our first 10. Short bites and no matter what we did, we could not get the fish committed. We ended up 9 for 26. All the fish were small. Go figure - thats fishing! It was a great day to be out though.

Boatless!

That is a nice day for sure! I have not caught a king yet. I sure hope to. Do the kings hit on the same setup as for coho's? Do they come in the same for the warmer waters? I was wondering if the coho frenzy would slow and kings start. Or is that more of a deeper and summer fishing? Sorry for the questions. Just new at it.

Kings are often in at the same time as the coho but much more scattered. We do often catch them on many of the same baits yes. Never hurts to target them though with a rod or two.

Good fishing! 46 on in two days. Weighed in a tourney limit. I would not hang your head too low! :)
