Planning on launching out of EC Sunday morning. Hoping the coho have remained in close to shore after seeing how good the bite was last weekend. This will be my 2nd time out this year after early april.I have 6 rods. Should I run 2 dipseys and 4 planar boards? Or 2 downriggers, 2 planar, 2 dipseys? I'm still pretty new to learning lake michigan. How long until the coho start to move out to deeper water? Trying to read up and learn as much as possible. I know the bait fish is in close so hopefully the coho are still around with the bait. I also read some kings have showed up. Do I target those differently than the coho as far as depth and bait? 15 to 25 ft? Spoons over flys? Planning on starting around the hole in wall and working toward deeper water and looking for pods of bait.

Thanks!

I'd run 2-2-2 . Divers out 25/30 have been very good this week. Put a dodger/fly on free sliders on the riggers and you will have the chance for a king without sacrificing the chance for coho. Actually, I've caught cohos on all my deeper king lures this week, as well. Still taking some fish on crankbaits but the dodger fly bite on cohos has been superb.

Put a dodger/fly on free sliders

I've never tried this, but I'm curious now! How long of a slider lead do you run between the dodger / fly and the main line?

Scoffer, from my experience I go on the shorter side with all my sliders and they catch plenty of fish. 24-36” is plenty.

Runabout, Sunday is still a long way out on my calendar but the coho were still thick around the areas you mentioned tonight. I was trying NOT to catch them and still caught probably 10 or 12 trolling 3 rods in 4hrs. I was running stingray and standard sized spoons and finishing the bottom 15ft of the column.

3 feet is plenty, especially if you are using a dodger and fly. That adds about 2 feet to the where the hook is dangling.
