Fished out of New Buffalo in the morning - late start at @ 8:30. Trolled SE toward Michigan City and moved in and out from around 35 ft to 60 ft. Caught a Steelhead about 6 lbs on a flatlined rapala crankbait in 45 ft of water. Caught a nice Coho on a spoon on downrigger at 18ft. and lost another Coho at boatside - both in the 50-55 ft depth. Then the short fish started chasing me or so it seemed. Hooked and released 4 shorts- all Coho - and had several releases that didn't take. I never marked any bait and only a few nice hooks on the graph all day. Lots of rain up there the night before and the river water was muddy and full of debris. I fished until about 1:30 and called it a day. I didn't hear about anyone else there having any better results than me and some regulars hooked no fish according to the ramp attendant.
Calm lake and warm enough to fish without a jacket, cheap gas and was "working from home" and getting paid while I trolled. No complaints!
