In the water and fishing at last. Pulled the trigger on a Parker 2530 this spring and just took delivery last week.

Friday - Pea soup fog for most of the morning. Lake was glass flat so went ahead and fished it. Cleared up a bit by mid day. Fished inside Indiana waters as other crew member did not have a MI license. A few good sized Lakers and a single coho, nothing to write home about but got the skunk out of the boat and some blood and slime on the deck. Very glad the new boat has a washdown - might be my favorite new feature.

Saturday - left the dock just after 7 and headed straight out to the state line to join the pack of boats already out there fishing. Worked from 65 FOW out to 95 FOW and everything in between. Caught a bunch of large lakers that we sent back, but we managed to hook up a double on kings. First hit on a 250 copper and second hit a 150 about a minute later. Made for quite the fire drill. Had good marks right before the double and dropped a waypoint that we tried to keep circling back through. Landed one more king on a 5 color later in the afternoon. One lone coho on a rigger slider, double orange crush super slim. Lost several fish on boards and riggers, guessing they were short bites with not a lot of hook in the mouths. Lakers hit just about everything including a meat rig, kings all hit green colored spoons. Kept 3 smaller lakers as well. Headed in as the wind whipped up and the storm closed in. Good bit of thunder and lightning over the marina as we cleaned up the boat.

Marked some very large clusters of bait both days. Saturday we marked fish pretty consistently out in the deeper water, although it seems most of them had lockjaw. Sounds like west towards Portage in shallower water was a better bite.

Time to pull the boat out and get the 20 hour service done on the motors. Hoping to get that done quickly so I can get back on the water this weekend and be ready for the first round of the HCC championship series on the 6th.
