Fished a couple times last week. Stayed in Indiana but was out by the IL/IN border. Made good catches of lakers, cohos and one nice king. There are some steelheads nearshore, I saw pier fishermen with fish or fish on, both days. Didn't fish in close. No idea if today's blow will change things in close, but I doubt it since the surface temps offshore are only around 60. No "warm" water to push in. Cohos on dodgers and flies, Trout on flashers and spin n glows near bottom. Kings on Revelators (like Spin Doctor) with flashy colored flies. Trout over 20 pounds each trip.

Spin n glows on flashers. New to me. Same leader lengths as flies, 2.5x to 3x the flasher length? Thanks in advance.

Started pairing SnGs last year with Spin Doctors one day when the cohos wanted something fast and the dodgers down below weren't working for the trout. So I lengthened the leader about 6 inches and zoomed along at coho speeds. The lakers loved it and ever since - fast or slow - the Spinnies/Spin n Glows have caught as many or more trout than the old dodger and spin n glow. The S. Doctor I use most is lemon ice, but I don't think the trout are that picky. The big guy in the picture came on a Mixed Veggie Spin Doctor with a yellow.red dot SnG.

Hey BN- noticed you mentioned getting coho on the Dodger fly setup. Are these the same setup used in spring or do you up the size of the dodger, fly or both? Also what depths are these setups going down for the coho? Can you still run them off boards or do you switch to DD? Sorry for so many questions but I still have allot to learn, thanks

I generally run the same small dodgers (6 -inch) down to 30 or 40 feet, then switch to 8 inchers. So it's more a question of depth than time of year. I do increase the size of the flies as the fish get larger and more active. Now using 2 1/2 to 3 inch flies and offshore where the water is clear more light colored flies - pearl/blue, silver/blue, teal, etc. Boards with heavier weights, 3 to 5 color, 100 copper - divers, free sliders with bottom lure 40/50 down.
