I emailed them last night and received this response this morning:

Thank you for asking about the buoy. It is under repairs, and there are plans to deploy this spring. However, the exact date is not yet known.

Cook buoy is in. This link is Michigan City weather station showing a rolling 18hrs of wind speed, direction and temp that gives a better idea of what lake is doing in my opinion www.glerl.noaa.gov/metdata/mcy/

Yep the lighthouse weather station and web cam is always a great resource. The buoy is nice because it is offshore a bit at the state line and gives actual wave height and wave period data, plus water temp data.

Data is not current on the IISG page, but appears to be updating on the Great Lakes Observing System page:  glbuoys.glos.us/45170

I emailed IISG and they said they ran in to some technical issues and are hoping to have everything up and running in the next 48 hours.

Great Lakes Buoy site still having issues reporting out data -

you can go to the Uglos site in the meantime for the Cook buoy at bridgman

uglos.mtu.edu/show_pic.php?station=45026...ff=-4&time_label=EDT

Still no word on when the Michigan City buoy will be deployed, but there's an awful nice stretch of weather (FINALLY!) coming over the next week or so. Hope they take advantage of it and get the buoy out there

Michigan City buoy has been in the water since May 4th according to the IISG buoy page.  Most of the data is displaying and updating on that page now.

iiseagrant.org/buoy/index.php

The person I emailed stated that the technical difficulties with information relaying / displaying on the site(s) was due to this being a new buoy.

There is a web cam on the buoy now that updates once an hour.  Neat new feature.
