TOPIC:

Got on the water at 9am and set lines around the donut in 45’.   Had two riggers out with magnum spoons and regular spoons as sliders.  150 copper and 7 color lead core. Had a thin fin out on a board also and eventually put out a magnum spoon on a dipsey.  Caught a 10# laker on the 150 and just as we got it in our lead core on the big board started screaming.   We thought it got hooked up with another boat that came way too close to us and it might have.    We did a turn as fast as we could and chased it in the direction of the other boat and reeled in almost 900 feet of line before the big board finally surfaced.  We were not sure if the other boat pulled in their line or what exactly happened.  We were just glad to get the board back.  I  soon realized there was a fish on and after we took the board off I could tell it was a BIG fish.  After numerous runs and about 10 minutes fighting it we landed a 20.1# hog king!!

We had several other swings and misses on a slider, thin fin and dipsey.  Fished 40-55’.  Should have tried the skinny water for cohos in hindsight at some point. We marked lots of bait but didn’t mark a lot of fish.  Good shakedown trip though!
