Launched out of EC at about 9:30 am with my wife, Dawn ,my friend, Jose, and his wife, Christy. Set a nice 8 rod spread with two F/F on boards up high, 3 and 1 setting dipsys off each side with blue dolphins on one side and a green and a green uv dolphin on the other and had spin doctors with spin and glos down low on the riggers.
Headed out to Gary light-50-40 ft of water, I couldn't believe all the bait I was seeing on the graph. But after 3+ hours only had one dipsy go back that we didn't hook up.
I decided to pull lines and head to the gong and troll north.  Turned out to be a great move for us.  Went 6 for 9 ,no silver all lakers but that's fine by me,  I like the big ones in the smoker and the smaller ones on the grill.
We all reeled in fish , as luck would have it the girls had the smaller ones while Jose and i dealt with some big brutes.  Had 3 in the 14-15 pound range , a 9 ,6, and 4.
Took fish on the dipsys and as expected the riggers with the spin and glows took 3 of the four big fish.
Was a fun day on the water.

A great day on the water.   How is the anglers qwest?  Fish sag bay a lot and the marina in Linwood has quite a few at the docks.

Great work. It is amazing how much bait is out there. Its hard to leave but either the fish there aren't hungry for our fake baits or the fish are not there in numbers.

Thanks. The boat is amazing , it has exceeded all my expectations, honestly.  I loved my old Lund Baron but honestly this boat has it beat in every category.

Yeah I know,  I spent 3 hours going through bait ball after bait ball . Just kept telling myself  I  had to get bit, but it eventually sunk in it wasn't going to happen.

Just wondering is there a chance there were perch down there or was that probably just all bait?

Exactly, It was really hard to leave that area marking that much bait. I wouldnt think perch because some of my schools of bait came all the way up to 15 feet below the surface. Usually perch are a ball on the bottom.

I would say there is a chance down there if the temps are right, but I dont think they are.  I would say, its likely almost all alewives.  However that is only my opinion, there are no hard facts to back it up.  DNR trawl?  That would be cool to see down here this time of year for confirmation.
