TOPIC:

Finally made my first run up to fish Thursday and Friday. Came up with 2 new first timers, a friend and his 21 year old grandson. We stated late Thursday morning east of the donut went towards the pavilion area. We went 1 for 4 there taking a nice laker on a 8 color setup on a custom made green with orange ladder back mag spoon. The missed fish all got away 10 feet from the boat. Really nice looking coho also. Ran to Gary and went 4 for 9 all coho. 2 came  coho spin doctors and 2 inch flies that were green, chartreuse, and mirage. Fished them on dipsies. 2 came on spoons on 100 copper and 150 copper. Same story get them close then get away.
I was hoping Friday would be the big finish and limits for the boat. Got going at daylight at Michigan city from portage. Fished for near 2 hours there with no action at all. We pulled lines and went to Gary again for a while with no action there either. Talked to One More Time and Sea Ya and then went to the gong for Lakers. Finally a 14 pound laker shooed the skunk off the boat. Then dead water. Stayed till about 1pm and back to Gary and went 2 for 4 landing a coho and a king about 12. Three thirty came around and we finally had to cry uncle and head home. Don’t know exactly but I think I motored near 40 miles chasing the fish plus the trolling. We fished hard. The Friday fish all where spoon bites expect one rigger dodger/fly bite. Hopefully next time it will be more productive. Only one good pic to share, the grandson and his nice laker.

At least you stayed with it and had them on. Seems like was the story for a lot of boats.
