Headed offshore this morning for my last trip to the Flemish Cap for trout. Did okay on the trout, caught one bonus steelhead. Best was 120 to 130 feet of water.
First odd thing was there must have been some sort of mayfly hatch going on. Not cover your boat with mayflies like they get in Lake Erie but how often do you get even one mayfly? We had a couple of dozen in the boat, more than I can ever remember previously.
Also, the fall migration of dickey birds must be on because we had several finches and sparrows come on board for a rest stop and to snack on mayflies.
Good luck to the tourney guys, I'll be working the mouth, #4 and other likely lairs for kings and gaspergoos tomorrow morning.
