Started the ride out of the ditch about 8:30 with plans on running over to Gary light.  Saw the floatilla at the mouth and changed plans to fish there to start.  Once lines rigged on this solo trip (two flat lines) joined in the procession.  Did manage one small coho on a fire tiger flicker shad.  Even after an hour of washing the lure the red thin fin never took a hit.
So a lure change was in order and being solo moved away from the pack of boats to set up the rods.  Found a warmer pod of water out deeper (30') and decided to stay there instead of playing ring around the rosey at the mouth of the ditch.  Glad I did too, as two better coho decided they liked the flicker shad.  Only had till noon to fish due to commitments at Church, so pulled lines and head back to the launch only to find they had taken the pier away and they were blocking all but one lane.  Would not be a big deal except for the time frame I was working with and all the fisherman were very tolerant of working around it. Lot was really quite full with maybe 40-50 trailers in the lot.

Day ended with 3 in hand all on the fire tiger flicker shad bait.

First thing I saw when arriving to launch at Portage around 10am was a huge front-loader blocking the right side of the only dock to launch off of.  Fortunately there were no lines.

Again focused around the mouth of the channel working out to the main lake to depths of 25’. Pretty solid boat traffic all around the mouth area and no one I could see was slaying em’. Every now and then I saw a coho netted, but they all seemed to be of the smaller variety. I ended up with 2 in the boat and one lost. These were smaller fish and they were taken in 25’ & 15’. Both fish were taken on a jointed flick’r shad. That’ the only crank that has been producing for me so far this year.

Thank you both for the report! Anyone know when the pier and boat launch repair will be done?
