Went out is Pastrick yesterday morning and trolled along the inland wall with no takers so we decided to run out to the gong for some lakers. The gong is not there, maybe removed for repairs? Anyway we went 5 for 7. 4 lakers and 1 coho. All the lakers were caught on spin n glows behind spin doctors on downriggers. It was a beautiful day out there with no other boats within site.

Good going, but wow - having to go laker fishing in what is traditionally the fastest fishing time of the year.

BTW The gong is removed late fall each year to keep the ice from tearing it loose.  I was out there one spring several years ago when the "gong" boat came and deployed it.  Took 'em a couple hours so it must be something of a chore to get it positioned and connected.

Yeah we got a late start and the chatter on the radio didn’t sound promising so we ran out to the gong. Besides, we don’t mind catching lakers, they’re a lot more fun to bring in than the much smaller coho. Some of the fillets will be in the smoker this weekend.
