Fished Portage starting a little before 3 pm yesterday. Set up in about 50 feet straight out of the ditch and trolled eastward. As I was letting out a purple fly on a 6 inch fire dot (yellow with orange dots) dodger with a 5/8th oz keel weight, just as I was about to clip a board on to get set up, I feel a jolt go through the rod blank and I realized I had a fish on, brought it to the boat and had a 16 1/2 inch coho in the box quickly. Then it was very tedious trolling through some bait balls for an hour and a half or so. Then got another hit on a red dodger with an aqua fly, it came unbuttoned after a few cranks, a while later, got a good slam on the same rig I believe, fish made me screw up netting as it jumped right at the net. 1/3, then got a quick three with two of them almost forming a double, all three were brought on board, also on dodgers and flies. Ended 4/6 and started marking a ton of bait out in 40-50 feet east of the ditch especially. Lake was beautiful. The other fish were all well over twenty inches, making the 16 1/2 incher look like a smolt. Edit: accidentally posted this in the wrong forum, not sure how to move it to the salmon forum.
