Got a late start Saturday morning for the first real shakedown of the new boat and setup with the family.  First line in the water at 8:30 starting at the west end of the port trolling east.  Swung to the outside of the pack since most boats seemed to be trolling west.   Radio was quiet, several comments about it shutting down already but we stuck to it.  Initial frustration as we lost out first 5 fish in a row changed when we finally landed the first coho. At this point a lot of guys were starting to clear up and head back as the sky was starting to darken and we could see rain coming.  Wife and daughter said they wanted to stay out and keep trying since it was a nice day. Put number two in the box right before the rain, and then number 3 right after as we were making a turn for a third pass in front of the port and the sky opened up as we were zipping in the side curtains.  Ended up completely soaked, but had a fun day ending 3/8.  Saw lightning and decided at that point to clear out.  Looks like I'll need to add a couple trolling bags to slow it down a little more, getting it under 3mph was a struggle.

Ran a 7 rod spread. 2 boards, 2 dispsy's, 3 riggers.  Hottest spoon was an orange/chartreuse Pro King on a slider, with the DR set at 25'.  2nd hottest was a purple Diamond King at 33' on the other rigger.

Nice job thanks for the report. Amish outfitters has the best bags, just get them on their online store. Figuring out a new boat is half the fun. What kind of boat do you have?

Ordered a pair of them while I was fueling up before I had even cleaned the fish, I had been eyeballing them already so it made it an easy decision.  I had hoped that dropping the tabs and adding trim would get me to 2.5, but it barely got me to 3.  Boat is 27' Sea Ray weekender, with a single Merc 7.4 and Bravo 1.  From a purely fishing standpoint I will miss my old Grady White, but the family sure seems to already enjoy this one a lot more than the Seafarer, and that's worth the tradeoffs.

Very nice. Yeah keeping the family happy is a good goal. Same reason why I left our sportcraft and jumped in a sea ray as well lol
