Fished North Point Friday night and Saturday morning.  Stuck in close near 55-100 fow and picked off small kings going 5/8 on mainly downriggers 35-45 ft down.  Crazy current made fishing a little wonky but it calmed down a bit last night.  We went in early with lightning on the horizon but there were about 20 boats fishing the 120-140+ fow range(only 5ish miles out).  The dusk bite proved better for them- heard lots of big kings caught in the 25-30 lb range with steelies via radio traffic from Waukegan to Kenosha- radio traffic up there is much more helpful than down here and people overall seemed eager to help us at the ramp and work with us while fishing.

Lightning storms and a downpour kept us off the lake from 4:30am until 6ish the next morning.  Started shallow again picking off the same small kings and decided to move further offshore looking for the big ones.  Made it out the 140 before the wind picked up and the rigger took off from a RV wonderbread 75 down and peeled out 450.  15 mins later we landed a 20 lb beauty.  Unfortunately we couldn’t stay out deep with the wind picking up and we headed back in around 10 am.

Ended 10/16 for the weekend on nothing but kings.  Best baits were SS eyeball man(by a wide margin), dragonslayer F/F, mag RV wonderbread, flounder pounder and SS green dolphin.  Seems like people live and die by Moonshine spoons up there but they work a lot better than they do down here.

Not a fan of picking on small kings but we learned a lesson not to sort through them looking for bigger ones.  The big ones are definitely out there.  Great weekend of fishing and glad to finally put a big one in the boat this year.  Shoutout to Rob at Lake Michigan angler for hooking us up with a solid report and the RV wonderbread.

Awesome job, and thanks for the report. Sure looks like the fishing is still on fire up there, may be time to top off the tanks and make the long run north again.
