Hey guys,
Ive been fishing this lake on my small boat for years, and have no experience with charters. My wife is part of a fundraiser for Demotte Christian schools, and I’m looking to buy a charter to auction at its annual Harvest Sale.  If anyone has any recommendations on a charter between Hammond, and say Michigan city, I’d love to hear it!  Thanks in advance fellas!!!!

John Warren with Kingseeker is a top notch charter with a knowledgeable crew out of east Chicago. You can probably reach out to him through website, Facebook page and also one of the captains on Captains Reports website as well. He would be my suggestion

Actually, I'd fish with any of the captains in Indiana and be confident they will provide a great experience for myself or my group.  In fact, over the years, I have fished with many of them.  From nearly 50 captains prior to the recession during the Obama years and the first bout of $4+ gasoline in the GW Bush years, Indiana's charter fleet is down to less than 20 operators these days - most of them have been around through both of these and their businesses have survived.

For a list of many of the captains and links to their individual websites go to www.charterfish.org

I'd like to offer a suggestion. Ask captains to see there negative post along with positive. You will be able to figure it out on your own. I know a few charter boats and they all qualify as good candidates but seeing the negative post allows a person to call that captain and ask questions. A good captain will have no problem explaining the event if there was one!

Trent, I believe all fishermen and women have positive attitudes going out every single day….we wouldn’t spend the time money and effort to do so if we didn’t. You must have a positive attitude and I’ve learned “take what the lake gives you” for that day. They do call it fishing not catching for a reason. I have great faith in all of our awesome charter captains on our wonderful southern end we all call home as I know and regularly work for and talk with them and I don’t know of any that wouldn’t go the extra step to make clients comfortable and safe! That being said I hope all have a happy and safe off season and whom ever you may choose for your trip to raffle will honestly be a great choice! Good luck and fish on!!!!!!
