TOPIC:

Seems every year I keep the boat in hoping to see an October run, which never pans out.  Is anything going on out of Portage?  Are the runs over, is anyone out fishing? 

Bleak very bleak. A couple here and there were caught out front but nothing to write home about. 

The last time I was fairly successful was a couple of years ago in front of MC on August 20 and the fish were pretty bronze.  I didn't give much effort past early August this year but the only king we caught out in front of the port was running with the steelhead on July 5.  Limited experience so I can't speak to too much but it's all weather dependent on this end of the lake and every year it's a dice roll.  The shore fishing I have been doing the past month hasn't amounted to anything either.

Warm water killed the run back to back years. Fish were probably there but getting them to bite in the 70+ degree water is another story.

All 3 stocking ports have fish. Fish are being caught in East Chicago Marina, Portage streams and MC Trail Creek.

I would say warm water doesnt necessarily kill the run, but it certainly makes the bite tough.
