We fished New Buffalo late afternoon from 5 pm to 7:30 pm. We went 4/6 on coho in 25 FOW just north and south of the mouth. We got 3 on Brad’s Thin Fish (red with black squiggles and gold with red) on mono and 1 on a mini dipsy with orange stubby and blue/green Salmon Candy coho fly. We also lost one on a Brad’s Thin Fish and one on the dipsy. One of our coho was particularly big for this time of year. The others were cookie cutter.

We used big boards for the first time. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to using Church or Offshore inline boards for this kind of shallow fishing. The great thing about big boards is that once the fish hits, the mainline comes off the tether and you fight the fish directly. Way more fun.

Will be out next week.
