Pacman what size boat are you running? We made it in with no issues in my 17.5 but fishing was all but impossible in the waves that blew up. Just curious what you ran being you ventured all the way over to MC.

Thanks guys we were in a 35' sea Ray with twin big blocks. We were about 15 miles out. Would have been nice to fish a bit longer but weather and other obligations made us quit. We were happy to get the two we did. Every bit of knowledge we can pick up is appreciated!

What type of waves were they yesterday? Rollers or steep compact ones?

It was a mix early on but when we came back in at 1030. They were just breaking hard. We were coming back in headed south at 17-22 mph depending on waves and the flag on the bow was blowing due east. It wasn't a threatening boat ride but it wasn't relaxing either.

It was an interesting ride for sure - we were not nearly as far out at you (we were at the wreck) but in a 17' it was an adventure. It did give me some new faith in the boat - it handled the big waves without any issue other than the entire boat (people included) were wet by the time we got back to Hammond. We must have just missed you - I think we left the marina a little before 11.

We were back in the slip by 1130 we sat at the gas dock for a while to fill back up. Sounds like we may try again Saturday.

Did you ever dip the bow under water during your ride back in? It seems these short boats will do that a lot. I know the last time I was out in 3 and 4 footers the wave period was short and the nose of my Alumacraft kept going under. That made for a miserable ride back to the ditch and safety. Heck it went under some when at trolling speed when we still had lines out. I think a 19 footer would be a much better all around boat length for fishing this lake. If I could do things over that is what I would have done.
