I've wanted to tie my own trolling flies for awhile now but always found an excuse not to start. When I did more creek fishing I made all my own creek spinners, cured my own eggs, and made spawn sacks. Not only was it more economical, it was immensely gratifying to be successful catching fish on your own handmade product.

Tonight, after all the YouTube videos I can tolerate, I decided on attempting a peanut fly as my first. I think I was pretty successful for the first try.

Here's to getting better.

And here it is next to a Howie peanut fly. It's bigger but I did use a bigger treble. That part of the order hasn't came in yet.

Greg ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ :woohoo:

Safecracker look back at a thread on jan 10 2016 called "PM Response" for some other ideas on fly tying. Brother Nature had a little tutorial on making his flies and he and Split got me started making flies. A little FYI for you.

Thanks Don. I remember that thread as it may have been the one to start the wheels turning in my head.

Patience would not be on anyone's top 10 list of of my traits. The wife thinks it may be therapeutic. :side: Somehow I have planted the seed that spending money on fishing stuff is a good thing. Lol.

Time will tell.
