I am wanting to get 2 more rods for my boat. I am wanting to replace 2 Diawa Accudepth MH 9 footers with a couple of 7'6" rods that are a medium strength or even med light. Seen what looks like a good deal on the Eagle Claws. Most all of my rods are the Okuma GLT's but thought hey I can save some money if they are worth buying. Anybody have any experience on the Starfire rods, good and/or bad? I can use the input please.

I've never owned any Starfires but they have been around since dinosaurs roamed the earth and must have something going for them. If you are looking for bargain basement price, tough as nails - check out Diawa Wilderness. We aren't finesse fishing out there where we need something light enough to hold all day and sensitive enough to feel a goby sneeze. At least on my boat i need a rod that can withstand bangs, bruises, being dropped, bent double and whacked on downriggers and other rods.

Thanks Mike, Wilderness rods are on sale also at the site. I believe they are priced at 13 dollars per rod and the Eagle Claws were priced at 15 dollars for the rods. Yep my rods do get handled rough sometimes and yet I have not broke one. In my case one will go overboard first before I break one. The site was www.northwoodsoulet.com. Good buys on rod holders too.

I will also vouch for wilderness rods. 90% of rods on my boat are diawa wilderness (all except for wire diver rods). They perform decent, hold up very well, and if you break one, no harm done. They are inexpensive to replace. I have used them for years and dont envision changing unless I win the lotto lol.
