Seen on the news the city of Chicago is developing the old US Steel sight.  Does anyone know if you can still fish from shore in the slip still(southeast side of Chicago)?  I am retired and might try there while the weather is good. Just to get out and wet a line.  Fished there in late February earlier this year but wasn't successful.                                                                                                                                                         Thanks, KJK

If you go to the end of the slip by the open lake, Steelworkers Park and is open to fish and should always be open to fish. As we know right now, the other parts of the slip are still “open” but is private property. No idea what the fishing access will be like when/if they start building there, but I imagine Steelworkers Park at the very front of the slip will likely always be there. It seems February there is hit or miss, but from mid to late November-early January, some good catches are made.

Thanks for the reply.  Used to boat over there from October to ice-up for perch.  Fished all up and down the river + Navy Pier from shore in the eighties and nineties.  Tried last February 28Th at the slip but didn't catch anything.  A couple small perch caught at the end of the slip by 87th/LSD. Don't think I had minnows that day, only half dead bee moths. Might try Tuesday before the weather gets in the twenties.   KJK
