I was shocked when I saw it. The South Bend Fish Ladder shows only 74 steelhead thru the SB ladder year to date (versus 9,000+ last year (whole year)).
Either the ladder is not being monitored due to budget restrictions or the run is running waaaaay late due to the colder than usual water temps.
The water temp didn't even get above 39 degrees until very recently. The fish can't even use the ladders until it cracks 39/40 degrees. It's still early March. In most normal winter years, this is pretty typical timing. Large numbers should start showing up soon
