So I'm coming in today and there's a couple of government workers checking gauges they've put under one of the bridges. USGS peeps. I dock, they dock and the young lady from the Geologic survey passes me as I trudge up the hill to the parking area. (She's a much faster trudger and with rhinestones on the back pockets of her jeans the rest of my own trudge was scenic.

Once I get to my truck, I switch to my muck boots, roll down the windows, crawl into the vehicle. In the meantime, she backs out of her parking spot and backs all the way down the hill and into the slip where they'd docked at the ramp.

(I've done this a couple times, but I've backed boat trailers backwards more miles than this young gal has driven going forward.)

I was impressed and I told her so. I'm devoutly sexist and told her I was impressed with her backing-a-trailer skills.

She smiled and said thanks.

Then I made her blush!

I told her if I were 40 years younger I'd be asking for her phone number!

I guess I'm still a perv, but I was happy all I elicited was a blush instead of a kick to the nether-regions.

What would you have done if she had asked you about "hooking up" on the boat today? A Brother Nature blush? Still you know you are still alive when you want to look. Doing something about it or with it is another issue. It is probably easier and safer to go get a combination pizza. No ED drugs needed for that.

SD: I'd have checked my calendar, quoted her my prices, (AND THEN OFFERED A STEEP DISCOUNT.)

If she took me up on it, I'd have asked Lickety Split to come as a deck hand. Between us, we'd have figured out what to do next.

I'm guessing she'd catch a limit of lakers, a king and a steelhead and the steelhead would have come on one of Split's custom painted J-13s.

Have I ever mentioned my theory about females, rough water and strange grins on their faces? I won't, either. But it happens....
