Fourteen miles offshore this morning and my motor shuts down. I'm a jackleg mechanic but not a magician. Soon I was in contact with the Coast Guard and they, in turn contacted BoatUS Towing out of Hammond Marina and dispatched a rescue boat. I have bought the unlimited towing insurance from BoatUS so after the towboat showed, towed us back to shore and secured us to the dock, all I had to do was hand over my BoatUS card and the bill was paid. Nearly $500 (if'd I'd not been insured.) It could happen to you!

Bought a likely part at Terpstras for $80, installed it and the Bro will be in action tomorrow. The fix worked.

If you on Lake Michigan and aren't a BoatUS member and subscriber to Tow assist and Trailer assist - you a fool!

I 2nd this mike. I am also a memeber of boat us. Was cruising offshore once and my steering cable snapped randomly. They came out brought me back to dock. All i had to do was confirm some info. Asked him how much would of been. $1100! Dont leave the dock without it people, you never know when something can happen. As I say, spend enough time on the water and something is bound to go wrong. Boat = break out another thousand for a reason. Lol
