I'm sure none of our group would be so reckless, but hearing of incidents like this is what gives all of us cause to think. So sorry for the families.


Two Friends Fall into Lake Michigan near Michigan City Lighthouse

Michigan City, IN – Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating an incident that occurred near the Michigan City Lighthouse Breakwall around 7:30pm. Two young male adults were walking on the breakwall when they both fell into the water after being knocked over by the crashing waves approximately 10 -15 feet high.

One subject was able to swim back to the breakwall and tried to throw a life ring out to rescue his friend. The other male did not resurface. He was rescued by the US Coast Guard and was taken to Franciscan Health Hospital in Michigan City where he was later pronounced deceased.
The identities are not being released pending family notification.

I drove through Washington Park yesterday afternoon and the lake was just plain angry! Thoughts for the man and his family.
