Saw something on the news this morning saying they might approve a lifetime fishing license for Indiana in July. Is this true? Haven’t heard anything about it anywhere else. I hope it is. Bought my lifetime hunting license as soon as I turned 18. It was an additional $200 to add the lifetime fishing license at the time. I think a yearly fishing license was $7 a year. At the time, it didn’t make sense to me. Sure wish I would’ve taken advantage of it back then.

I haven't heard anything about it John. I bought my comprehensive fishing and hunting years ago.  One of the best investments I've made.

There is a "Senior discounted" that you can get once you turn 65. I got mine shortly after I turned. It's offered as a yearly @ $3.00 per year or of life @ $17.00. At least that's what it was when I signed up.

Looks like with the price increases it's now $23 for the senior license. Still a great deal, few more years for me

These were first offered when the government mishandling of the economy had produced record high inflation and interest rates.  It made sense then, since the DNR could bank the license fees and make up the money just by spending the amount of interest it earned.  Things changed (thankfully) and it became a money loser for the DNR.  Now with interest and inflation back on the rise, it might encourage some people to try to resurrect it.

A better ploy would be to put some marketing skills in the mix - 365 day license instead of April 1 to March 31.  Multi-year licenses.  Buy 2 or 3 or 5 year licenses at slight discounts.  Half year licenses if they don't go to 365.  Auto-renew, like Netflix.  And make it simple to buy a license online.  I can buy a spool of line on Amazon in 11 seconds.  It takes 10 minutes or more to buy one online.  Do they really need to know if I have green eyes or weigh 240 pounds?  It's simple marketing.

Why not cut a deal to sell licenses on Amazon?  Gotta think out of the box.
