It's been a strange year but even stranger, I've not heard of one king being caught anywhere in Indiana. Didn't bother me in March. Not unusual in early April but we are way past the time a few should have been caught even if they whacked a Thinfin on the surface or a Dodger Fly on a diver.

Not saying any of this portends anything for the rest of the summer, but it sure seems weird there's not the any down here.

I re watched the ludington workshop prey fish assement. They said recently alewife have been staying in the deep water way offshore 300-500fow longer than in the past. They said they've noticed them not coming nearshore until early May. This might coincide with what we've been seeing. I have heard of 3 kings caught total since april 1st.

No bait, no fish. Coho have moved offshore to feed on bugs. I know of a few caught deep while trout fishing, probably following the shrimp down during the day. I know of a handful of kings caught, 3 this week but they are few and far between. No size averaging 8 - 12 lbs. from what I've seen. We never did have much for Trout in the shallows this year. Still waiting on bait to move inshore.

Friday we went out of Michigan City and trolled west and trolled in 13 to 22 fow and trolled about 2.5 miles passed the pink house. There was bait fish on the bottom (alliwives) and we hooked several on riggers.

We went 22 for 45.

Flat lines were best. Brad's thin fish on the surface 40 ft behind the board took most of the fish including 2) kings. Lost a 20 pound king at the boat because we didn't have a long handled net. Tried to get ready to net the fish but when he saw the net he flipped and pulled the hook. A 2ft swim platform was also part of the problem.

SS Watermelon on riggers was working best on riggers. Also Carmel dalfin spoon did some good. Most everything hit in the top 10 fow

1 steelhead, 1 king and 18 coho.

When we cleaned our 10 fish I was suprized that about half had eggs. Very small to be having eggs. We didn't have any over 3 pounds.

We had several shorts we put back.

Green seemed to be the color of choice

We even swung into 10fow making a turn and caught a couple coho on the fast side.
