Anyone have have any information on why the MC and Cook buoys haven’t been deployed this year?  Wondered if I missed something.

I saw the Purdue boat go out with the buoy last week. Saw them headed out yesterday as well.

Purdue/Sea Grant is down a boat in their fleet, so everything has taken longer this year

The MC buoy just went live today, I saw. But only on Uglos site so far, not Seagull

No idea why the Cook buoy isn't out.

I'm not getting any live data currently off the MC buoy- at least not from the Southend link.

I am not sure of the exact reason, but it could be due to maintenance delays, budget constraints, or weather conditions affecting deployment schedules. Sometimes, agencies responsible for placing the marine boys   face logistical challenges or need to replace damaged equipment. It might be worth checking with the local harbor authority, Coast Guard, or NOAA for any official updates. Have you noticed any other buoys missing in the area?

I'm thinking it's just too early for them to go in.

Note that this is a post from nearly a year ago, wondering why they weren't out yet last spring. It is definitely too early to be deploying buoys this year

That said, it may be significantly delayed this year due to shenanigans at the federal level holding up funding, grants, firing federal staff, etc. Much of Great Lakes management runs on partnerships backed by federal funding and much of that is in limbo right now.
